Kinobody Movie Star Body Program Review (Is It Legit?)

Is it possible to build a “movie star body” in only 3 workouts per week?
That’s what you’re going to find out in this extensive review of Kinobody’s Movie Star Body program.
But before I get into the review, I have a couple things to say.
First of all, thanks for coming to my site.
I’m truly honored that you’re interested in hearing the opinion of a fitness junkie like myself. Thank you!
Second, if you keep reading, you’ll find the full review of Movie Star Body on this page. And I actually think it’s a very good program.
But I think you should know something before you continue.
If you’re looking for a gym program that will show you how to get leaner and build more muscle definition…
Without training more than 3 days per week…
Without going to bed starving every night…
And without forcing down bland, tasteless foods that you hate…
Then I recommend you check out Superhero X12 instead of Movie Star Body.
Bear in mind, if you’re looking for a bodyweight training program, Movie Star Body is the better option.
But, if you’re interested in changing your body using free weights in a gym setting, I found some problems with Movie Star Body that I just can’t ignore.
First, there’s too much filler in Movie Star Body. Greg O’Gallagher, the creator, has written sections inside the program that span thousands of words but really don’t provide any actionable strategies to get you leaner or build muscle.
With titles like “The Problem With Most Bodyweight Courses”, I can’t help but roll my eyes. I wish he would stop selling us on the program after we already bought the program. It’s a waste of my and your time.
On the other hand, Superhero X12 gets straight to the point with only actionable techniques so you can transform your body as fast as possible. The program includes cheat sheets, quick start guides, calculators, scannable PDFs, and HD exercise tutorials to cut out the bull, and help you make progress as soon as you sign up.
Second, Movie Star Body is based on attaining “strength standards” that a huge portion of guys will never reach (and it’s not their fault).
Listen, we’re all different people. That should be obvious.
And because of our genetics, our backgrounds, and our daily routines, we’re all built differently and function differently.
A guy with weak joints may never bench press 1.5 times his own bodyweight. A dude with long monkey arms may never do chin-ups with ½ his bodyweight.
And here in the real world… that’s OK.
You shouldn’t be held to those kinds of standards.
That’s why Superhero X12 is designed to help you build an incredible-looking body by simply pushing you to grow stronger and look better than you did the day before.
Why complicate things? With a wide selection of workout routines and techniques for helping you build muscle definition, you can reliably transform your body without weighing yourself down by unwanted stress and anxiety of reaching “strength standards” that someone passes down like the ten commandments of fitness.
Finally, Movie Star Body promotes decreasing your body fat down to unhealthy and miserable levels.
Kinobody says MSB can help you reach body fat percentages as low as 6%, but leaves out two important facts.
One, it’s almost impossible to maintain that level of leanness for more than a DAY, let alone the entire year. Professional bodybuilders have spoken openly how maintaining 5-6% body fat takes a ton of effort and is tough to keep for more than a few hours!
Two, 6% body fat is crazy unhealthy for you. When you get down to 6% body, a bunch of bad things happen. Your hormones get completely messed up. You absolutely have no sex drive. You have a ravenous appetite at all hours. And getting really restful sleep is tough.
Personally, I have a hard time trusting a program that claims maintaining 6% body fat fits easily into your current lifestyle.
Instead, Superhero X12 gives you a reliable plan to lean down, see a noticeable six pack, and maintain it year round without disrupting your life. Not only can you get lean enough to see great muscle definition, but you get to feel good too!
I go into painstaking detail over what’s included in my review of Superhero X12 if you want to learn more.
But this is why I recommend SX12 if you want to build a body that’s lean and muscular like a Hollywood actor.
- Start making progress faster because SX12 cuts out all the filler content
- Grow stronger and leaner based on reliable methods designed for the average guy (not just the genetically-gifted)
- Maintain an awesome six pack year round using strategies that revolve around your current lifestyle
Again, consider Superhero X12 instead of the Movie Star Body program.
But you don’t have to take my word for it.
I’m just a random guy on the internet.

Now onto the review…
What is the Movie Star Body Program?
The Movie Star Body program is a premium, digital fitness system created by Kinobody’s founder, Greg O’Gallagher. According to the sales page, this program promises that you can…
- Reach 6-9% body fat
- Increase your strength incredibly
- Create muscle proportions resembling male movie stars
- “Master your bodyweight”
These claims are pretty much in line with what Kinobody has been preaching for years. The brand has positioned itself as the real solution to creating an aesthetic body that resembles physiques of Hollywood celebrities.
And the creator of this program says you can achieve all this while training only 3 days per week and eating large, satisfying meals every single night.
About the Creator – Greg O’ Gallagher
Movie Star Body was created by Greg O’ Gallagher, the founder of Kinobody, a fitness brand dedicated to teaching others how to achieve a lean, Hollywood-style body.
Greg O’ Gallagher was the son of multi-millionaire Michael O’ Gallagher, the founder of MetCap, the largest manager of multi-family residences in Toronto. At the time of Michael’s death in 1988, his estimated net worth was $800 million.
One of Greg’s primary goals was to become a fitness model and transition into acting. He even landed a supporting role in a low-budget horror film, “The Russian Bride” starring Corbin Bernsen in 2019.
But Greg’s overarching passion always revolved around fitness. Thanks to his hard work, along with his family’s wealth and connections, he was given the opportunity to spawn a profitable fitness company that boasts a wide range of products including:
- Premium programs like Warrior Shredding and Greek God
- Health and fitness accessories like the Kino Belt and Kino Vision glasses
- Supplements like Kino Collagen protein powder and Octane pre workout
- A custom clothing line called Kino Clothing
What’s Included in Movie Star Body?
Again, Movie Star Body is a digital fitness program. It’s hosted on the popular web platform, Kajabi, and after you sign up, you gain access to all the modules included in the program.
I had heard good things about Kajabi before purchasing this program and navigating through the dashboard confirms that. The Kajabi interface is easy to navigate and clearly lays out how to get from one section to the next.
For this review, I purchased the platinum version that includes both the bodyweight and gym training routines. This version doesn’t include any group coaching or Kinobody coupon codes or discounts however.
There are 14 modules to this program so let’s take a look at each one and find out what’s inside.
Course Introduction
Just like the module suggests, this is the introduction to the course (duh). This section contains three small sections.
The video “Welcome to the program!” features O’Gallagher explaining the change you’re expected to experience and how important it is for you to be committed to the process.
Section 2, “What’s in Store for You…” gives an overview of the entire course including training, nutrition, recipes, cardio, supplements, and mental mastery (aka hypnosis).
And the “Final thoughts before digging in” section just hypes you up for the course and sends you on your way.
Movie Star Body Training Fundamentals
This course module provides an overview of the entire training program for the “gym version” of Movie Star Body. If you only sign up for the bodyweight program, then I imagine you won’t have access to this section.
Just to be clear, I won’t be revealing the details of what’s in the training program (boo, I know). I’ll be providing an overview of each section, but as far as the exercises, sets, reps, and routines, I can’t give that away for fear of being sued.
Overall, this module is dedicated to shifting your mindset, explaining what your goals are throughout the program, and how to know (at a high level) if you’re making progress.
A lot of this has to do with focusing on “key lifts”, striving to push intensely with each gym session, and aiming for certain strength standards. Minimalism is preached a lot in this module, making sure that we limit our sessions, but make each one as efficient as possible.
Movie Star Body Nutrition Plan
In this module, you’ll learn all about the required nutrition for the course. Similar to the training module, this one starts with a single video and then follows up with eight written sections.
Also, like the training module, I can’t reveal the detailed calorie and macro calculations since that’s part of the core of this nutrition plan.
The module starts with a video where Greg O’Gallagher explains the fundamentals of the nutrition plan including intermittent fasting, how to structure your meals, macro and calorie requirements, and what to expect in terms of progress.
He has a written section that shares some advice from an unnamed mentor that O’Gallagher says “runs one of the biggest Hollywood studios”. Whether or not you believe that statement, the advice given by the mentor is actually pretty good.
The gist of this section is “take your time”. By taking your time, you actually make better progress than if you were to try shortcuts or any methods that might overtly streamline the process.
There are more details on…
- Protein requirements
- Intermittent fasting
- Tracking
- Carb refeeds
- Frequently asked questions
The module ends with a written section that tries to address the question of “when will I be shredded?”, but doesn’t really answer it. Overall, it seems like this title was an afterthought.
THE WORKOUT ROUTINE: Phase One
So this is it. The actual workout for Movie Star Body platinum.
This module contains all written text in only three sections. It goes into detail about the workouts in phase one of the program and all the stuff in between.
O’Gallagher starts this module with the phrase “Now for the Moment You’ve Been Waiting For!” anticipating that you were probably searching for this section since the very beginning.
Like Greg mentions on the sales page, there are only 3 workouts, they revolve around major compound lifts, and they use a combination of reverse pyramid training (RPT) and Kino Rep Training.
For those who don’t know, reverse pyramid training is a tactic promoted by Kinobody very often and it’s a way to structure your working exercise sets so that you start with your heaviest weight at the lowest rep range. Then, with each additional set, you decrease the weight by 10% and increase the number of reps by roughly 2 reps.
Here’s a rough example:
- Set #1: 100 lbs x 6 reps
- Set #2: 90 lbs x 8 reps
- Set #3: 80 lbs x 10 reps
The idea is you are able to produce more force when your muscles are “fresh”, so this strategy capitalizes on that by making the first set a heavier weight compared to the others.
Kino rep training sounds like it’s something exclusive to the Kinobody brand, but it actually just sounds like standard pyramid training. You increase the weight with each set.
There are a couple more training methods introduced in this module, but I’m not going to disclose them (again, I don’t want to be sued). Then there’s some ending advice about transitioning into phase two.
PHASE 2: Size & Strength
In this module, Kinobody explains the details of the phase two workout routine. The goal of this phase is to build off of phase one by focusing on a combination of size and strength (hence the title).
Even though this is still a Monday, Wednesday, Friday workout routine, each workout gets its own section with a considerable written explanation on how best to tackle it.
Again, you’ll find a combination of RPT, Kino Rep Training, and others used in these workouts. Generally, this phase contains more volume in support of building more muscle size.
PHASE 3: The Shrink Wrap Phase
The “Shrink Wrap Phase” of the Movie Star Body program is where O’Gallagher says you actually create more definition, making it look as if your skin has “shrink-wrapped” around your muscles.
This phase uses a combination of higher volume sets and short rest periods to stimulate sarcoplasmic hypertrophy. However, the key lifts have a reduction in volume.
The workout portion is covered in three written sections.
Additionally, this module contains a diet change, moving from a caloric deficit to a recomposition setup. If you’re not familiar, a recomposition is when you eat right underneath maintenance calories with the goal of maintaining your current physique without any significant changes.
There is a very long written section on this topic in the The Shrink Wrap Phase. However, about ⅔ of the information is about “why”, and the rest is about “how”.
Movie Star Bodyweight Training Program
If you didn’t purchase the “platinum” option for Movie Star Body, then the bodyweight training program is the only workout program you would have access to. This module is pretty long with 14 separate written sections, each one being at least 1000 words.
Here’s a quick rundown of everything that’s covered in this module.
- The advantages of “elite” bodyweight training
- The problem with other bodyweight courses
- The main bodyweight movements and their progressions
- An equipment list
- The complete workouts (exercises, sets, reps, and rest times) for phases one to three of the program
- A nutrition setup
- A hybrid workout routine combining both free weights and calisthenics
- Intermittent fasting rules
- A bonus routine to work your traps
- Strength standards
There’s an Excel spreadsheet included with this module that lays out the workouts and exercises for each week in all three phases. Not gonna lie, it’s pretty helpful.
This program is laid out similar to the gym version in the three phases. In all three phases, there are primary exercises that start each workout and act as key indicators of progress, but with each sequential phase, more volume and trickery is added to induce sarcoplasmic hypertrophy.
The progression appears to be VERY similar to what’s in Kinobody’s Bodyweight Mastery program, however, it looks like the brand has stopped selling that program since the release of Movie Star Body.
The strength standards were adapted so they’re not based on a certain amount of weight, but instead on a certain number of reps for an advanced exercise variation (like doing 10 one-arm push-ups with your feet elevated).
Overall, this module appears to be very complete and that all questions regarding this workout and diet structure are answered.
Movie Star Bodyweight Training Vault
This module contains all the video tutorials for each of the bodyweight exercises mentioned in the bodyweight program. They’re all shot in HD and feature Greg O’Gallagher teaching and demonstrating each exercise in person.
These are filmed in his home gym and the run time ranges from 3 to 10 minutes for each video. Overall, the videos are well shot and the tips are pretty helpful on each exercise.
A couple things included in this module that were not directly mentioned in the previous module are a bonus video on ab training and a bonus video on jump rope conditioning.
The TARZAN Training Phase!
This module covers an advanced workout program called (you guessed it) the Tarzan Workout. Like the other routines, it involves three separate workouts, but it acts as an advanced routine to the Movie Star Bodyweight program that incorporates “explosive power, pulling strength, and athleticism”.
Think more along the lines of jumping and very aggressive pulling. There’s also a hybrid version of this workout that includes some Kinobody “key lifts”. This module contains one written section and four video sections – some with multiple videos inside.
PHASE ONE: Movie Star Lifting Vault
This module contains all the exercise tutorial videos for phase one of the Movie Star Body platinum program. There are even separate videos dedicated to specific rep schemes mentioned in the routine.
PHASE TWO: Movie Star Lifting Vault
This module contains all the exercise tutorial videos for phase two of the Movie Star Body gym workout program.
PHASE THREE: Movie Star Lifting Vault Bonus Exercises
This module contains all the exercise tutorial videos for phase three of the Movie Star Body gym workout program.
Movie Star Coaching: Simple Recipes
This module contains nine recipes that are actually pretty simple to prepare and sound good too. There are easy-to-follow instructions for each, plus a picture to show what the finished product should look like.
Movie Star Bodyweight Facebook Group
You get access to the members-only Facebook group when you join the program and similar to other Kinobody groups, it’s quite active. At the time of writing this review, there are over 5,000 members with new questions, advice, and dank memes being posted daily. Plus, this is where Kinobody most likely cultivates the majority of their success stories.
Movie Star Body Bonuses
Along with the main program comes a fair amount of bonuses. Let’s go through each one and see what’s inside.
The Fat Loss Accelerator
I was a little surprised with this bonus because I thought it was going to contain strategies similar to what you might find in the Aggressive Fat Loss Program, but it revolves around cardio instead.
Neck Work
In this section, you get to watch Greg wrap a weight in a towel, flop it on his head, and swing his neck around like Batman headbanging with his cap draped over his head.
All kidding aside, he gives a practical approach to neck training that adds a little final touch to the “movie star physique”. There are a few pictures inside that demonstrate how having a small neck can actually limit the “wow factor” of your finished physique.
The Lean Bulk Strategy
Event though this lean bulk strategy is in the “Bonuses” section, it’s very informative. This section explains when you should bulk, how to implement it, and for how long. There are even a few tips to minimize fat gain.
Self-Hypnosis Drill
This is a very long written section that goes into the power of self-hypnosis using an anecdotal story from O’Gallagher. Then, there are instructions on how often and how to implement self-hypnosis effectively.
To be honest, I’m actually a fan of self-hypnosis. However, the script that’s in this section doesn’t appear to be pushing you towards different actions. Instead, the script is more about bolstering your confidence and making you feel like you deserve a better body.
I think what would have been more effective is if the script had more tactical commands like “when you feel the urge to overeat, you’ll feel even more satisfied when you put down your fork” or something like that. (It’s hard to think of these things on the spot here).
Self-Hypnosis Recording 1.0
This is the self-hypnosis MP3 recording that the drill is based on. It’s Greg O’Gallagher himself talking through the script. I’ll be honest, I didn’t actually listen to it, but I’m sure it’s all there.
Things I Like About the Program
The Information is Complete (and Works)
First of all, I’ve been following Greg O’Gallagher and the Kinobody brand for quite a while and I can tell you from personal experience that the methods explained in this program hosted on Kajabi should produce results. The results will be different for each person, but the strategies are sound.
The diet portion of the program is complete. It includes the calorie calculations, macro instructions, plus the quick meals is a pretty nice bonus. I actually found a recipe that I might try myself.
The training and workout information is extensive as well. For every routine, you get an extended written portion explaining all the exercises, sets, reps, and rest times as well as explanations of intensity and the Kinobody signature rep schemes.
What’s probably the most thorough parts of every module have to be when Greg O’Gallagher answers the simple question of “why”.
- “Why do intermittent fasting?”
- “Why do reverse pyramid training?”
- “Why should I eat this much protein?”
Any qualms that you may have with ANY of the methods in this program are definitely going to be addressed with pretty lengthy responses.
Of course, if you’re unhappy with anything in the program, you can always get a full refund within the 30-day period.
The Exercise Tutorials are Very Helpful
If there’s one thing that O’Gallagher does well, it’s performing on camera. And that’s exactly what he does with each of the HD exercise videos included in the program.
The videos are filmed with very high quality and Greg does a good job of walking you through how each exercise should feel, how much effort you should apply, and how to properly execute them.
The cues and descriptions that he uses for each exercise let you know that he’s been doing them long enough to understand the basic mechanics and demonstrate them with confidence.
Phase Three is Well Thought Out
I’ve read through fitness programs in the past that have broken training into three phases, but they’ve typically been focused on gaining muscle. Because of this, they tend to start with higher volume, and then decrease over time.
Movie Star Body actually does the opposite. In phase one, you start with the least amount of volume per workout to create a baseline of strength. By phase three, your strength has improved, so it’s OK to add a little “pretty muscle” on top with additional volume to induce sarcoplasmic hypertrophy.
I also like that a diet change is made in phase three as well. I probably can’t disclose the details, but the meal plan is modified in a way to slow down fat loss and attempt to maximize muscle glycogen storage so that you have plenty of fuel to make it through each of your high-volume workouts.
Things I Don’t Like About the Program
Too Much Filler
I’m betting about 30% of what’s in this program could have been completely removed and it would still be just as effective. What does that say about Movie Star Body? There’s too much filler.
For example, there’s a section called “The Problem with Most Bodyweight Courses” and it’s 2,659 words long. Another section is called “The 7 Unique Advantages of Elite Bodyweight Training” and it’s 1,606 words long.
Neither of these sections are teaching “what to do” or “how to do it”. It’s all “why”.
It’s like “Greg, we know that bodyweight training is important and want to learn from you. That’s why we bought your course… duh.”
Another issue that adds to the fluff in this course is the unnecessary repetitiveness between sections.
For instance, in the section “The Movie Star Bodyweight Program in Full!” you’ll find a written section giving an overview of the workout schedule, what muscles you’ll be working, and your training goals.
Then, if you click into the very next section you’ll find almost the exact same G.D. information in the introduction. Again.
These aren’t the only occurrences of unnecessary filler in Movie Star Program that I found. So that raises a question…
Why all the filler?
Allow me to speculate…
First, I think Greg O’Gallagher used “speech to text” technology to simply talk through his ideas and create the course without actually typing. This is actually a pretty smart idea if you’re a busy business person that’s trying to create content quickly.
However, you gotta go back and do some serious editing when you create content like that. I’m guessing him and his team didn’t do that.
Second, Kinobody believes that to charge more for a program, you need to add more stuff. While it’s true that you can’t sell a program for a high price that doesn’t deliver much value, the keyword is “value”.
The content that he added to this program to try and justify the price tag is worthless. Repeating the same information throughout the program doesn’t provide more value. Padding modules with thousands of words of information that nobody cares to read doesn’t provide more value.
Strength Standards are Not as Helpful as Kinobody Thinks
I’m going to take a controversial stance here and say that strength standards do more harm than good. There it is.
Now before you start driving to my house with pitchforks and torches, let me clarify.
Strength standards are good for people that have:
- Healthy joints
- Adequate time to dedicate to implementing the program “as-is”
- Short to average limb lengths
In other words, if you’re already a healthy individual that knows how to organize your time and you don’t have too long of limbs, then strength standards could be a solid motivational tool to keep you on track with your training.
For everyone else, these strength standards may not apply.
If you don’t have healthy knees, you may never squat twice your bodyweight. If you don’t have healthy shoulders, you may never bench 225 lbs. Hell, you may not even be able to do these specific exercises at all.
And that’s OK.
If you don’t have time to dedicate a full hour, three days per week to the workouts “as is” and you basically have to fragment the training into more frequent, smaller sessions per week…
You might not reach these strength standards either. And that’s OK.
If you are 6’ 3” and have long legs, when you perform a barbell squat, you literally have to move the weight over a greater distance than someone who is stocky at 5’ 7”. Your squat strength standards will be different.
If you are 6’ 2” and have long arms that reach your knee caps, the same thing applies if you’re performing chin-ups or inclined bench press. You literally have to move the weight a greater distance than someone with shorter arms.
Because of these reasons, I don’t think strength standards apply to everyone.
Personally, I think the right way to think about strength training is to try and lift more than you did last time. What’s wrong with that?
The real problem with Kinobody’s strength standards is they can actually discourage customers and make them feel that they’re “failing” at the program because they’re not strong enough, even if they look like a million bucks.
The Claims of 6% Body Fat are Unrealistic
In this program, there’s a lot of emphasis on trying to reach 6-9% body fat. While, this is definitely attainable naturally, going below 8% body fat, and maintaining it is hard as hell.
First of all, it stops being healthy to go below 8% body fat. Your body needs a layer of fat to keep your hormones balanced and keep you alive.
Plus, a lot of women don’t think that 6% of body fat is attractive. Let that one sink in.
Once you go below 8-10% body fat, your hormones start to fight back and convince you that you need to eat more.
- Hunger cravings start to surge
- You may get headaches throughout the day
- You become noticeably more irritable
- Your sex drive diminishes
And to make the claim that getting to 6% body fat is where you want to be… that’s nuts.
I’ll go on record saying that you’ll never be able to maintain that year-round. Hell, professional bodybuilders have trouble maintaining 5% body fat for longer than a day at a time.
I think a much more reasonable goal is to aim for 9-10% body fat. When you go below 12%, you start developing ab definition. Going below that is really the icing on the cake.
Movie Star Body Review – Is It Worth It?
Review | Movie Star Body Program |
---|---|
Summary | Movie Star Body is a digital, premium fitness program created by Kinobody's founder, Greg O'Gallagher, that promises to help you cut to single digit body fat, build strength, and master your bodyweight. The program offers both bodyweight and gym training options with complete nutrition and mindset lessons too. Despite the unnecessary filler, useless strength standards, and unrealistic 6% body fat claims, Movie Star Body is a complete body transformation program that should help you lose body fat and gain muscle definition for a more aesthetic appearance. |
Author | Kyle Hoffman |
Rating | 4.0 (out of 5) |
The main promise of Kinobody’s Movie Star Body program is that you can build a lean body with aesthetic muscle proportions comparable to Hollywood actors.
Do I think it’s possible with this program? Yes.
Movie Star Body is a complete program based on good advice. There are diet guidelines, training routines, and support through the Facebook community that should keep you on the right track.
The HD exercise tutorials in the program provide great value to customers and the overall, three-phase system appears to be well-thought out.
But… This Program Isn’t My Top Pick
Like I said at the beginning of this review, Movie Star Body isn’t the best option for the average guy trying to get leaner and more muscular if you’re looking for a program using free weights in a gym setting.
First, there’s too much filler in Movie Star Body. This makes consuming the information feel like a chore and your eyes start to glaze over wondering when the next helpful strategy is actually going to show up.
Second, Movie Star Body bases its progression on strength standards that not everyone can possibly attain naturally. This can actually make beginners feel ashamed and discouraged about themselves if they don’t meet these strength goals… even if they’re completely killing it!
Third, even if you get to 6% body fat like Movie Star Body says you can, you’ll NEVER maintain it year-round. It’s misleading to keep singing the praises of 6% body fat since it really can’t be part of a normal guy’s lifestyle.
So what’s our top pick for building a lean and muscular body? Superhero X12.
Superhero X12 contains only straight-to-the-point fitness strategies (no filler). This way you can take quick action and transform your body as fast as possible without sifting through unnecessary information that doesn’t contribute to your results.
This program also doesn’t lean heavily on one-size-fits-all strength standards. Instead, Superhero X12 is designed with one simple goal… get stronger and look better than you do right now.
Finally, Superhero X12 shows you how to maintain a lean, six-pack year-round and doesn’t promote dieting to unhealthy body fat levels that actually make you feel miserable in your daily life.
You might be thinking, “Geez, those are some pretty big claims.”
That’s why I wrote a detailed review about Superhero X12 that reveals everything inside.
But why not hear it straight from the horse’s mouth?
